We are very excited to have been involved with the recreation of an engine for a 1924 Grand Prix Sunbeam.

The roller bearing crankshaft was re-drawn from scans of a sample and an original Laystall print from the 1950's. It has oil collecting grooves either side of the main bearings, from where the oil leaves under centrifugal force to feed the big ends - a relatively straightforward manual machining op, but very difficult with CNC! Note the supercharger drive on the nose, and the integrated gear.

We are looking forward to seeing this car out and about soon.
